Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), sometimes called “tapping,” is a therapy that helps people manage stress, anxiety, or upsetting memories. In EFT, the person focuses on a specific problem or emotion while gently tapping on certain points on the body, like the face, hands, and upper body. This combination of focusing on the issue and tapping can help the brain and body process emotions, reduce stress, and feel calmer.
Using EFT, I would start by creating a safe, supportive space. I’d help you identify the memory or feeling they want to work on and guide them through the tapping sequence while they focus on it. During the session, you check in on how they feel and help them notice any changes in thoughts or emotions. The goal is to reduce emotional intensity and help the person feel more in control and balanced.
