Sometimes children can’t tell us exactly what’s wrong. They just know something doesn’t feel right.
They don’t necessarily need a diagnosis or label. We can start with how they’re feeling and what they’re finding difficult.
The aim is to help them understand themselves, believe in themselves, manage difficult thoughts/feelings and feel more confident and comfortable being who they are.
If your child or teenager is struggling and you’re not sure exactly what they need, tell me a little about what’s happening and we can have a conversation about whether working together might be appropriate
For children under 16, a parent or guardian is very welcome to stay during the session if that feels more comfortable for you or your child.
Supporting Children Through Therapy
I use a mix of simple, gentle techniques depending on what your child needs and what they feel comfortable with. This might include EFT, breathing and relaxation, visualisation, stories or using their imagination in a fun and natural way.
For me, it’s about giving them little tools they can actually use when they’re feeling worried, overwhelmed, scared or unsure of themselves.
We might work on calming busy thoughts, building confidence, managing big emotions, sleep, exam nerves or things they’re finding difficult to cope with.
Above all, I want sessions to feel relaxed and positive, somewhere your child feels listened to, understood and completely comfortable being themselves.
