Counselling & Psychotherapy

Counselling is undertaken in a safe, friendly and non judgemental space, providing you with the opportunity to talk and reflect on whatever you like.  The process and pace of counselling is individual to you, you may want to explore your thoughts and feelings, acknowledge emotions, develop new insights, formulate goals, generate a sense of purpose and direction or make plans of action.

Counselling explores our worldview, how we construct our reality,  our hidden assumptions and expectations and how these shape ‘limits’ within our world.

For me counselling and psychotherapy is about developing self awareness. As we become more self aware we become more conscious of who we are and what we want, how we're influenced by the world around us and the impact that we have on others. Being conscious gives us greater control over our daily lives and our future.

My counselling is based on the principle that a person has all the inner resources that they need to be able achieve whatever they want to.  A counsellor’s role is to help facilitate discovery.

Often counselling is a person’s first experience of being truly open about how they think and feel, without fear of being judged. It can be experienced as a huge release.

How I work

My practice is based on an integrative approach to psychotherapy and counselling.

'Integrative' means that I draw from a range of styles to suit your individual needs, (e.g. Person Centred, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Body Psychotherapy, Relaxation & Mindfulness and Psych-spiritual techniques).  I adapt to you rather than expect you to fit into any one model.

I provide one to one short and long term counselling in a confidential environment.

I work within the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist's Code of Ethics and receive regular supervision.
